Why Your Airbnb Listing Title Matters (And How to Get It Right)

When it comes to getting more eyes (and bookings!) on your Airbnb, your listing title can make all the difference. It's the first thing potential guests see when scrolling through hundreds of options, making it your one-shot first impression.
Sure, professional photos and a solid description matter too, but a well-crafted title is what encourages people to click in the first place.
Here’s how to make your Airbnb listing title work harder for you:
Use the Full 50 Characters
You’ve got 50 characters, so don’t waste them. Studies show Airbnb tends to favor longer, information-rich titles, so don’t be afraid to fill that space. But be smart about it.
Skip anything that’s already obvious from the platform’s filters. If someone is searching in Lake Tahoe, you don’t need to use “Lake Tahoe cabin” in your title. Instead, focus on what makes your property stand out.
To save space, feel free to use abbreviations, as long as they’re easy to understand. For example, “BR” for bedroom, “w/” instead of “with”, and “Lvl” for level.
Pro tip: On mobile, only the first few words may show up in search, so make those first words count.

Lead with Unique Features
Compile a list of keywords that highlight your home’s most attractive features. Think beyond generic phrases like “perfect for families” or “great location.” Those don’t tell potential guests why your place is different from the rest.
Instead, highlight specific features guests care about:
Private hot tub
Lakeview deck
Walk to ski lifts
Game room + bunk beds
Sauna + wood-burning stove
If you’re unsure what to spotlight, take a look at past guest reviews. They’ll often tell you exactly what stood out to them.
Know Your Audience
Who are you hoping to host? A couple on a weekend getaway? A family of six? A group of friends chasing powder?
When you’re clear on who your listing is for, your title can speak directly to them. Here are some examples:
“Spacious Cabin w/ Game Room & Kid-Friendly Loft”
“Cozy Lakeview Studio – Walk to Restaurants + Trails”
“Ski-In Chalet w/ Sauna & Fireplace | Sleeps 8”
The more tailored your title, the more it resonates with the right guests.
Keep It Honest
It can be tempting to throw in words like “luxury” or “modern,” but only use them if they truly apply. Overselling your space can lead to disappointed guests and less-than-glowing reviews.
If your home is cozy and charming but hasn’t been recently renovated, lean into that. There’s a market for all kinds of properties. Let your photos and description provide context, and keep your title focused on specific features.

Switch It Up Seasonally
You don’t have to stick with one title forever. In fact, we recommend keeping a few in rotation and switching them out based on the season or local events.
Got a hot tub? Highlight it in the winter.
Near a popular hiking trail? That’s a summer draw.
Hosting during a local music festival or holiday weekend? Say so!
Keep an eye on listing views each time you make a change. Even small updates can make a big difference.
